Basic Introduction

StressAssess is a free workplace psychosocial risk assessment tool developed jointly by Ontario Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) and the Mental Injury Tool Group. Adapted from the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), it is tailored specifically for occupational health management needs in Canadian workplaces. Its core goal is to help employers and unions identify workplace stressors that impact workers' physical and mental health, and provide data support for subsequent improvements to work environments.

Core Features & Pricing

The tool offers two versions: a personal version for individual workers to complete self-assessments, and an organizational version for employers or unions to conduct large-scale workplace surveys. The assessment covers 6 core workplace psychological factors, including workload demands, job control, work support, professional recognition, and work-life balance. Results provide two levels of analysis: first, a horizontal comparison against the average data from a 2016 national survey of over 4,000 Canadian workers; second, correlation analysis to identify the core risk factors that have the greatest impact on worker health in the current survey. The entire tool is completely free for eligible Canadian organizations to use, with no charges of any kind.

Pros

• The tool is built on an academically validated professional questionnaire framework, and all adjustments are based on local practical needs and user feedback, so its professionalism is guaranteed.
• It adheres to the principle of anonymous surveys, and does not include questions related to personal psychiatric history, which avoids personal information leakage and stigmatizing labeling, protects workers' rights, and is completely free with a very low barrier to use.

Cons

The drawbacks are very clear: it is designed exclusively for Canadian workplaces, so its reference data and question framework are not suitable for other regions. It only supports English and French with no Chinese interface, and its functions are limited solely to assessment and survey work — it does not provide solutions for subsequent workplace improvements.

Target Users and Access from China

This tool is only suitable for use by Canadian employers, unions, and occupational health institutions. Domestic users in China have almost no practical use cases for it. It can currently be accessed directly without a VPN.
