Mapa Sonoro CWB is a non-profit humanities project founded in 2015. Its core mission is to build an emotional sound map of Curitiba, Brazil, collecting local residents' sound memories, auditory experiences and related stories tied to different spots across the city, and presenting the city's cultural changes and personal emotional connections from a unique auditory dimension.
Different from conventional navigation maps, the project focuses on recording sounds that carry meaning for locals — they may be old sounds preserved in memories, or sounds that bring irritation or comfort in daily environments. It helps people re-perceive the city's changes and their own urban life experience through sound stories, while also opening up opportunities for users to contribute their own sound stories.
