Genie is an inventory management SaaS built specifically for Shopify brands. It aims to replace spreadsheets by bringing inventory analytics, replenishment planning, purchase orders, supplier profiles, and automated reporting into a single interface. Based on its positioning, its core users are ecommerce brand operations teams rather than companies looking for a general-purpose ERP or multi-channel inventory system.
For inventory management, Genie provides insights into real-time stock status, low stock, stockouts, excess inventory, slow-moving inventory, and inventory asset value. It also supports data filtering, exports, and drill-down analysis. The purchase order module supports recommended replenishment quantities, PO creation, CSV/PDF exports, split shipments, multiple currencies, and tracking for landed costs, production costs, discounts, and fees. Supplier management can store contacts, lead times, documents, and historical POs, though supplier conversation tracking is still marked as Coming Soon. For reporting, Genie offers template reports for stockout risk, sales velocity, dead stock, and more, while paid users can also request custom reports.
Genie uses a monthly subscription model and offers a 21-day free trial. Pro costs $59/month and supports up to 1500 variants and 50 suppliers. Growth costs $99/month and supports up to 5000 variants and 100 suppliers. Scale costs $159/month, supports more than 5000 variants and unlimited suppliers, and includes a dedicated account manager plus Slack Chat. Genie states that there is no official SKU limit, but recommends booking a demo first if you have more than 20k SKUs. At present, one account can manage only one Shopify store; multi-store setups require a custom quote.
The main strengths are its clear focus and quick onboarding. According to the company, users can start analyzing inventory within minutes after installation and onboarding. Compared with an ERP, it is cheaper and more closely aligned with the day-to-day replenishment and inventory decisions of Shopify merchants. The drawbacks are also clear: it currently supports only Shopify, with no native support for Amazon or multi-channel operations; some supplier collaboration features are unfinished; and, more importantly, a blog announcement states that Genie will be joining Doss and that the Genie platform is planned to be shut down on August 31, 2025. Any long-term new purchase should carefully evaluate the migration plan.
The source text does not disclose information about access from mainland China, a Chinese-language interface, or payment methods such as Alipay, WeChat Pay, or UnionPay, so access from China is unknown. For Chinese sellers using Shopify whose main needs are inventory analytics and purchasing planning, Genie’s approach is worth studying. However, given the platform shutdown announcement, more realistic alternatives should prioritize Doss, Shopify Stocky, lightweight ERPs, or localized inventory systems that can integrate with Shopify.
