The 18th-Century Common is a public academic platform for 18th-century cultural studies open to the public, initiated and operated by a team of 18th-century research scholars from Wake Forest University and other higher education institutions. Centered on the core concept of "the commons", it breaks down the paywalls of traditional academic publishing, provides accessible academic content for non-specialist readers, and supports collaborative open-access digital ancient text collation projects among scholars.

The platform has two main core sections:

• The first is a collection of public humanities columns organized by theme, covering nearly 20 specialized topics including Jane Austen studies, 18th-century criminal history, digital humanities, women's lives, and garden landscaping.
