headless.design is a collection of work and experiments by Stockholm-based product designer Gustaf Garnow. The part most relevant to AI tools is a “cold-read” website diagnostic service: you enter the URL of a live page, add the goal and target audience, and the system uses multiple agents to analyze the page. Gustaf then makes the final judgment and delivers a specification document, prototype, and submit-ready diff.
It does not position itself as a fully automated website scoring tool. Instead, it emphasizes that “AI adds the speed”: three specialist agents evaluate the page from the perspectives of research, copy, and structure, while a human makes the final trade-offs. The copy explicitly notes that LLMs tend to produce generic suggestions such as “clearer CTA,” so the positioning is: use AI as the ruler, and a designer as the eye. Outputs include a runnable prototype, spec.md, and an optional PR-ready diff. A free scan previously returned Top-N ranked fixes in about 15 seconds.
The service was once designed with an agent-native approach, including POST /v1/cold-read-requests, POST /v1/scan, GET /v1/orders/{id}, along with /llms.txt and an A2A discovery card. MCP was marked as “soon.” However, the page also states that the pilot has closed, and these endpoints are no longer live. There is no public pricing information, apart from mentions of a scan free tier and a deep pass delivered within up to 72 hours.
Its strengths are a clear methodology, the ability to combine AI speed with human design judgment, and practical outputs that go beyond a list of suggestions. The drawbacks are also obvious: there is no disclosure of the specific models used, privacy policy details, data retention practices, pricing, or service support; the API is currently closed, limiting commercial usability; and final quality depends heavily on an individual designer’s judgment, with unclear scalability and SLA stability.
It is best suited to early-stage startups, landing page owners, and product design teams looking for an external audit of above-the-fold messaging, conversion structure, and copy. At present, it feels less like a mass-market AI SaaS product ready for procurement, and more like an example of a high-level designer’s AI-augmented service. Access and payment options from China are not disclosed, and whether it can be reached directly is unknown. If you need ready-made alternatives, consider Framer AI, Relume, v0, Lovable, Webflow AI, or a manual UX audit service.
